Maria Teresa is twelve and the brightest in the class. She does ballet, violin, horseback riding, piano and chess. Her sister Elisabetha is nine years old and not smarter than a baby. Maria Teresa knows she will go to college later. Just as she knows her sister needs to go to a nursing home later. Maria Teresa and her sister differ much. Her mother sometimes says that if Elisabetha was not mentally retarded they would be alike. If so Maria Teresa is sure waht they’d be doing. Chatting, make-upping and shopping like normal sisters do. It’s a thought that she ignores quickly. What’s the use of dreaming about it? Elisabetha is who she is. Her sister might be hard to understand, but Maria Teresa tries her best to see the world through the eyes of Elisabetha.
This film, together with My Big Brother, is part of a series about children growing-up .
